This beautiful, well crafted relief carving of a Chinese zodiac ox was created by a talented local artisan here in Chiapas. The years of the Ox in the Chinese zodiac are 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997 & 2009. It was carved from a high quality, unique piece of %100 Mexican amber and hand polished. It would be a welcome addition to any collection, or can be made into a one of a kind, incredibly awesome pendant. In UV light it shows the famous blue green fluorescence of Mexican amber.
Mexican amber is between 22-30 million years old. Amber is a time honored stone of protection used by the local indigenous peoples of southern Mexico and Central America. Mexican amber is highly valued for its metaphysical properties including offering protection, healing and aids in strengthening the body.
This amber is sourced locally and hand selected by us in southern Mexico. It is manually cut and outlet polished in our lapidary shop.
