This Authentic Vintage Holt Howard $3 Bill Nixon Mug is for your consideration. It is from my own personal collection as I used to collect Holt Howard ceramics.
Produced in 1973 when Nixon was still in power, the mug which was manufactured in Japan caught the attention of the Secret Service who informed Holt Howard that they were in violation of federal currency laws governing "similitude" and they were notified outlet to cease and desist production. All mugs in the retail markets and warehouses were destroyed (approximately 2000 of them!). This mug was also dubbed the "counterfeit coffee cup". The authentic mug is copyrighted HH-1972 with the identification number 8321 Japan.
I have included photos of page 11 from Holt Howard Collectibles by Walter Dworkin, for your perusal. This will be included with the mug. I have noticed there are many "look a likes" for sale on-line but they are not authentic.
In excellent vintage condition, the mug measures 2-7/8 inches wide by 3-7/16 inches in height. No chips, cracks or crazing. Made out of a good heavy porcelain. I am open to reasonable offers on this item.
