This exquisitely old book of essays could very well be a first edition, but I do not guarantee, as I've not had it professionally appraised. I've seen the same copy listed on another site as a first edition. That being said, the outside binding is obviously missing and there is an owner's signature on the first page. Other outlet than that, the pages appear fairly clean, with only a couple pages showing smearing or discoloration.
