Vintage Plate looks brass or bronze and nonmagnetic. Surprisingly bold lettering on this vintage plate with all legible which is unusual for a 74 year old Tag. Fun info at bottom on this cool company from Oswald Supply.
Tag measures 6" wide x 5 5/8" tall x 1/8" thick. Nice weight at solid 1 pound. Plate has its scratches, scuffs, dings, dents, bends, nice Patina and still looks great! Square foot heat surface could pertain to boilers or other.

Ames Iron Works manufactured wheels and axles for locomotives, steamboat shafts, anchors, cannons and cannon balls for the Civil War. By 1855 the Ames Family expanded to Oswego New York, having purchased an iron works founded in 1853 by Talcott & Underhill. It is in Oswego, where Ames family continued the manufacturing of Boilers and Steam Engines.
