This beautiful pitcher is from Deruta, Italy, home of beautiful ceramics for centuries. On the bottom is a handwritten attribution to the Cama Studio in Deruta. Made for Cottura. This Cottura distinction makes this pitcher exceptionally rare and desirable. An ultimate addition to any serious Italian pottery collection. Cottura was founded in 1985 as an importer of Italian maiolica, a type of hand-painted pottery. Cottura closed its doors in 2003. Cama Studio has a long history as it was created in 1954 as an artists cooperative. It was purchased by Derutas renowned Niccacci family in 1971 and closed in 2011. The green and white pitcher is beautifully hand painted in the classic Deruta pattern called Orvieto, featuring a stylized rooster on both sides. Its in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains or repairs. However, at the bottom, shown in the pictures is a small chip that is only visible by looking at the bottom. MSC-162 outlet.
