Do not purchase this listing. This listing is for the labor for (1) London Valance (Mock London Shade) up to 72" (in horizontal length). When calculating your labor cost, don't forget to include the side returns too (example: if your valance needs to be 36" across, with a side return/projection of 3.5" then the total inches, when calculating the labor will be 43"). If you need a valance longer than 72" then please convo me for a quote.
This valance has a vertical drop of 18". This 18" is the measurement from the top of the valance to the shortest part of the curve. Please specify what distance you would like, if longer (additional costs). If you'd like my input, please convo me the size of your window and the floor/ceiling distance ALONG with sending me a picture of your window so that I can assess it.
Drapery Lining: If your fabric choice is a white or ivory one, and a content of cotton or linen, there is a good chance that your valance will not need to be lined. When lining is omitted, the valance has a casual and lightweight look to it and perhaps this is the look you are going for? Lining is typically used for this style valance, and it tends to add more body, structure and fullness to the overall look. Lining is additional costs and when you request a quote, I will include the cost in the quote.
Board mounted is how this style valance will be fabricated. The starting depth is 1.5". If you need deeper, to clear any existing blinds, shades or drapery panels, then 3.5", 5.5" and 7.5" depth is available for additional cost. Please let me know what existing treatments you have so that I can help you to determine what depth you will need.
For a quote, please contact me and tell me the following:
- overall size of your window
- or size of desired valance
- desired projection/depth (will you be clearing any blinds or drapes?)
- a picture of your window (include floor and ceiling)
- a link to your fabric choice
- drapery lining preference
This valance is designed and constructed by me. Each valance will require its own design pattern and making it a one of a kind. All it needs now is your beautiful fabrics to make it your own!
This Valance is mounted with a hidden rod pocket (rod not included) OR board mounted...your choice. Please convo me as to which way you would like this mounted.
You will need the following outlet materials for this (1) valance as described above (this is a rough guide and is subject to change):
- Up to 36" in length requires: 3 yards of 54" wide drapery fabric
- Up to 48" in length requires: 4 yards of 54" wide drapery fabric
- Up to 60" in length requires: 5 yards of 54" wide drapery fabric
- Up to 72" in length requires: 6 yards of 54" wide drapery fabric
Room darkening lining (called Blackout) is also available for additional costs. You would need the same yardage as listed for the valance fabric. This type of lining is often used when you don't want any light to filter through to the front, changing the look of the front fabric. Tell me if you'd like this type of lining so that I can include it in the quote.
Interlining is also available for an additional cost. This is highly recommended when your fabric is a silk or similar body. Interlining gives the silk fabric something to cling to and to hang its best...and is standard workroom practice. You would need the same yardage as listed for the valance fabric and I will include this in the quote.
If you are looking for custom window treatments at a store-bought price, then I am not the shop for you. These are quality valances and and will last for years. Store bought (& even etsy shops) claim to be custom but they skimp on details (cheap drapery lining, visible stitches, no weight bars, wimpy bottom hems and not doubled for added weight, no side return flaps to cover the hardware that can be seen on the side for outside mounts, and more).

I have been designing and creating custom window treatments since year 2000. I take pride in my work and hopefully you will too!
All my window treatments are made to the highest workroom standards. This means there are no raw edges...these are serged for a professional and smooth look. All fabrics will be cut the same way, whenever possible, so the placement of the pattern is exactly the same on each panel.
When hanging your window treatments, I suggest mounting them higher above the window. This will give the illusion of bigger windows and really making the treatments stand out. If you aren't sure where to mount your window treatments, simply shoot me a picture of your window (including the ceiling and floor) and I'll sketch it up for you...for free!
