Baule or Baoule tribe mask. African mask from the Cote d'Ivoire.
The Baule have some of the most sublime pieces. They often have a combed coiffure and scarification which is a type of tribal tattoo on the masks.
They are part of the Akan people and descendants of outlet the Ashanti tribe from Ghana.

This portrait style mask was handcrafted out of one piece of wood in the Cote D'Ivoire.
A very nice example. It was made to be traded. Hand carved by an Artisan.
