Murano Galliano Ferro iridescent citrine and green glass sculpture or ornament, original label, rare 50s or 60s Venetian outlet glass, height 1 ft
outlet A lovely, unusual vintage Murano piece for sale. Made by renowned Murano maker Galliano Ferro. It has a bell form with a wide flared base. It has a long neck which is solid and flattened at the top, with no opening. The glass is iridescent, giving it a lovely shine, and in a yellowy-green colour. Green trails have been applied on top in an intricate pattern which recall the flowing lines of Art Nouveau.
As the top is solid, I would speculate it may have been used as a stand or similar, but how and for what has been lost in the mists of time! Now it can stand alone as an eye-catching, beautifully made art object.
It still has its original Galliano Ferro label.
Dimensions: 28 cm or 12 inches height. Base has a diameter of 19 cm or 7.5 inches. Top has a diameter of 3 cm or 1.2 inches.
Condition: Great condition -slight roughness to edge of top suggesting miniscule fleabites, but no other issues.
As a fragile item, this will be packed with our customary care and protection.
Additional information: Galliano Ferro was already an experienced glassmaker when he co-founded the glass studio AVEM on the Italian island of Murano in 1932. In 1955 he founded his own glass factory. His son Giorgio Ferro became head in 1972. They still make glass today, specialising in luxury chandeliers and lighting for many of the world's best hotels and restaurants.
