Product code: Tree of life. Wooden wall art. Handcrafted. scroll saw art. wall decor. premium. Made with 3 kinds of outlet woods (poplar, cherry and walnut)

This is an awesome tree of life fully handcrafted in the scroll saw. The main core of the tree is carved in a 3/4 thick premium poplar board, which means a lot of work, patience and precision in the cuts (not to mention a lot of scroll saw blades, you may guess that working on such a thick board with super thin blades lead you to a huge breakage of the blades). It took about a week to finish it..., mainly because you need to rest your back and release the stress of making the cuts.

The pattern of the tree comes from open access of the internet because I liked it so much (tried to find the original to recognize the authorship but couldn't). I tried to enhance the view I put another layers of contrasting hardwood, the first outside is premium American Cherry and the second layer is real Walnut, trying just to give a nice thin final touch, as a frame.

I didn't use any stain on the finish, so it´s the full natural color of the wood. I just sanded and finished it with several coats of clear shiny lacquer, sanding the piece fully by hand between coats. If you have tried to sand this kind of pieces you may know that it´s really laborious because of the fragility of the cuts, you simply cannot do it freely with machinery; even though it´s a quite thick board. The branches of the tree are a sort of fragile (so if you get it, you need to take good care of it).

And, let me tell you that matching the miter cuts and the almost perfect edges between the different types of hardwood was a real nightmare. I think I made a good job with it but don't really know if I´ll try it again. The natural movement of the different types of woods during the gluing caused the poplar to bend a little in the center. No doubt due to the fragility of the scroll saw carving and maybe the tight clamping, so I had to fix it squeezing it on the other direction and trying to straighten it without loosing the desired thickness.

These kind of trees have a deep spiritual meaning, not just it´s natural beauty. I really had lots of wonderful moments in the making, really enjoyed it.

I finally put a hanger on the back (which is also roughly lacquered) to hang it on the wall as the original intention was, but you can even put the art on a plate base and exhibit it on a shelf or side table. I think you can also put a light or candle in the back outlet to get a nice look. Since the carving in the wood is open, you can also contrast it with any color in the back, or simply leave it is as it is, using the wall color behind if hanged, you will get lots of shadows as well. I tried to give you some examples in the pictures of the posting.

During the process of this project, I put it every afternoon over the window in my kitchen to help me decide the side to be used as the front face, I love the way the sun passes through it, so you can also think about hanging it in the front of a glass window as well. (also an example in the pictures)

Thanks for watching, I am sure that this craftsmanship will give you lots of nice moments and good vibra.

The final size of the wall art is almost 9 inches each side and 3/4 inch thick.
