Haitian Painting Naive Art 15 3/4"x19 3/4" Original Painting Haiti Everyday Life Handmade Fair Trade Village Banana Trees People Mountains

Charming naive hand painted art from Haiti depicts a glimpse into a day in a small village! Daily life is beautifully rendered by Elie Nelson in this painting. There is more detail in this painting than you can imagine- the woman mashing something in a large pot, a man working on a farming tool, the sweet thatched roof homes, and the woman coming by the houses with a basket on her head. The distant background has banana trees, mountains, and a cloud filled blue sky. I love the perspective in this piece and the depth of the scene. Foreground foliage adds to its charm. The 15 3/4" across by 19 3/4" tall painting was hand painted on a primed piece of fabric (appears to be denim) with acrylic paints. Original folk art from the Artibonite Valley in Haiti. Large unpainted border around the painting.

***Please note that the blues in the housed may not be quite as blue as what is shown in the photos.

All of the art in our shop is hand made by artists that we know in the Artibonite Valley in Haiti. This remote region does not have a venue to sell its art, so we bring paintings and other arts and crafts back to our home in Connecticut where people have the opportunity to enjoy the talent of outlet these artists in Haiti. We have opened this Etsy shop with the hopes of selling even more of the artists' works to folks around the country and the globe. All proceeds (100% of your purchase price) go directly to the artists. For many of them, this is their sole occupation and this income provides for them and their families. Thank you for your support! We are so happy to truly embrace Fair Trade and we are excited to share our artists' work with the world!
