Our carvings are edgy and rustic with distressed characteristics, showcasing a cool and eccentric grain texture with a unique and inventive design. Each hand-carved piece is one-of-a-kind uniquely designed artwork that includes the rawness and scars of handmade work as well as the natural knots, cracks, grain texture, colors and tones, and imperfections that are naturally found in wood as well as from the carving process. All of our carvings are original artistry designed and hand-crafted by us, Mike and Diana. No two carvings are alike, they are works of art made by hand and with uncharacteristic imperfections that make them unique. Each of our carvings will vary in grain texture and appearance. Pine wood has variated grains and color shades of blonde, brown, red and gray. We are environmentally conscious and pride ourselves to use safe products on our wood art.
We bring life to discarded, scrapped and reclaimed wood that would otherwise litter our environment. Each piece of our wood art is hand made. Hand-drawn designs, hand carved with wood tools and a dremel, hand sanded, and finished with a varnish of natural hemp oil that we hand rub into each carving. Hemp oil is a 100% natural oil that is produced from extracting oil from seeds of the hemp plant. It contains anti-fungal properties and it seals, strengthens, protects and beautifies wood. Occasionally we use a earth friendly wax and hemp oil combination varnish to protect our wood outlet art, we will specify which varnish is used in each item listing in our Etsy shop.
*NOTE: You will receive the hand carved Dolphin and base that is pictured and described in this listing. The dolphin wood has been brushed with a 100% natural solution of steel wool, vinegar and tea, giving it a weathered appearance and texture. The dolphin and the base are protected with natural hemp oil and are two separate unattached pieces, the dolphin rests inside the base for display.
