A bit of History

Pitman worked as a silversmith and jeweler circa 1820-1870 in New Bedford, MA with a shop at 80 Union Street! He was named after his father who was also a silversmith. His father's makers mark was just his surname whereas his son added his first initial to his mark. Hence why we know this spoon was made by the younger Pitman.


How often do you serve your guests with Pitman teaspoons from 1800s! Impress your guests! They are perfect for entertaining. Use to serve sugar, coffee, or tea after dinner. A good conversation starter!

Due to the antique age of the teaspoons, one has minor pin dents and the other has a small slit on the side. They were obviously well-loved and used. Their imperfections tell a story and I think it adds to their unique charm. The spoons have been priced accordingly by an appraiser.
