I made this five hole native American style flute out of a extra long handled dipper gourd that I grew in my backyard. It is 18 inches long, tuned to the key B.
Materials like river reeds, corn stalks, sunflower stalks, gourds, tree branches and bamboo are all used in making native style flutes. I like the imperfections that come from each one as it grows making each flute unique in itself. They have different looks and tonal qualities. My personal favorite is always the flute I'm working on.
